Robotic Dues/ Spirit Wear

On December 3rd, all robotic dues are expected to be turned in as well as a signed copy of our student handbook. If you are intending to pay the dues with a check, make sure to write it to the school and not Fronius. You can turn in the dues and a signed form during robotics or in Fronius’s room in C101 before or after school.

Spirit Wear is now available. This is different than the game specific shirt which we will be provided to all team members before our first match in March. Deadlines for orders to be submitted is December 7th and order forms have been sent via email. If you did not receive an email with an attached file, we can supply an order form to your student and tell them they have not received an email so we can add your address to our list. We will be receiving everything before Christmas break starts.

Mentoring young robotics students

On November 29th we are going to Riverside to work with young students competing for the first time in the Vex IQ league. They are eager and have questions and we hope to provide some direction for them.
Here is a link to the game they will be playing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJML1_JNCLI

How to help the team

As we start the new year, the team has many needs that are not just financial.

Mentors
We need more mentors. Mentors are professionals who volunteer to guide our students with their experienced advice. We have an immediate need for engineers who can help, and for a business leader who would be willing to guide our business and marketing team.

Materials
Specifically the team uses tools. Last year we purchased an old vertical mill (Bridgeport), it is now up and running, but we need milling tools and collets. Any peripheral materials and tools would be appreciated.

Parent Organization
This year we are hoping to organize the assistance parents have provided. This really kicks in during build season and during competitions, when parents have wonderfully served the team in the past.

Anyone who can help the team in any way should contact a member or mentor on the team.

Vex Tournament now November 2nd

Due to football playoffs, the VEX tournament has been moved back to November 2nd. If we end up conflicting with a home playoff game, the tournament will be in the auxiliary gym.

We will still host a parent meeting during the middle of the contest.  The evening will consist of three distinct parts.

  1. Qualification tournament, followed by a draft
  2. Parent meeting (chance for robot repair and strategy)
  3. Playoffs and crowning of champion!

We hope everyone can join us, this is a great family event.

VEX competition night – November 2nd

The mini-bot boot camp will wrap up on November 2nd, with a tournament. This should be another fun night. There will be a round of qualification matches, followed by a break for a parent meeting and then the tournament. A victor will be crowned at the end of the night.

HSE high school may be coming to compete.

The competition will be in the main gym, so parents and friends may park on the athletic side of the building.
